Women in History Week

IMG_1384Women in History is a wonderful program where 5th graders (boys AND girls) voluntarily produce skits depicting 5 important women in history. We work three days a week during their lunch period to learn their lines, and the performances occur during the week of March 10th.

This is an excellent opportunity for the 5th graders to work on their public speaking, and for the younger kids to learn about some very interesting women. The younger kids have been watching these performances over the years and are usually very excited to take part in the program when they get to the 5th grade.

Women In History is a program that is unique to MATES and requires several volunteers in order for it to continue to be fun and educational for our students.  We need volunteers to help with the program, in a few areas:

1- If you are creative, we need help with costumes, props, and sets.

2- Helping the students learn their lines Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during upper grade lunch, 12:15 to 1:00 in the MPR.

3- Helping during the skits March 10 – 14th, all day or whatever time you might be available.

You don’t need any special skills to help! If you are interested please come during lunch this Thursday 2/20 (12:15 in MPR) and you can see what we are working on. If you can’t make it and still want to help, please email Committee Chair, Debbie Hedges!
